What is the Kunst-Gebäude?
The Kunst-Gebäude is an art museum.
The Kunst-Gebäude is very well-known.

The Kunst-Gebäude Stuttgart is hosting an exhibition called “The Cold Heart”.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

A long time ago, Wilhelm Hauff wrote a fairy tale. It’s about a man who wants more and more money. But because of this, he becomes lonely and unhappy. The exhibition shows:

  • How money and wealth change people
  • How the world changed because of industry
  • What this still means for us today

WHAT CAN YOU SEE?

Many artists have created pictures and artworks. Some were made especially for this exhibition. The art is about:

  • Who am I?
  • Violence and how to become happy again
  • Feelings
  • Nature

WHEN AND WHERE?

Dates: April 18 to October 4, 2026 

Location: Kunstgebäude, Am Schlossplatz 2, 70173 Stuttgart

Opening hours: 

Tuesday to Sunday: 11 am – 6 pm 
Wednesday: 11 am – 8 pm
Monday: closed (except holidays) 
Holidays: 11 am – 6 pm

IMPORTANT

The Kunstmuseum Stuttgart is currently closed. But the exhibition is in the Kunst-Gebäude – a different building.

WHO IS PARTICIPATING?

Artists like: Kader Attia, Tracey Emin, Jenny Holzer, Rosemarie Trockel, and others.

IS THE KUNSTGEBÄUDE ACCESSIBLE?

Accessible means: without obstacles.
The Kunstgebäude is accessible.

We have 4 buildings:

  • Alte Staats-Galerie
  • Stirling-Bau
  • Steib-Bau
  • Kunst-Gebäude

The accessible entrance is on the terrace of the Stirling-Bau.
Accessible toilets are on the ground floor of the Stirling-Bau and the Alte Staats-Galerie.

WHAT ACCESSIBLE TOURS ARE AVAILABLE?

We offer tours for people with:

  • Visual impairment – we describe the art in detail.
  • Hearing impairment – the tour includes a sign language interpreter.
  • Mobility impairment – we look at the art at a slow pace. There are comfortable chairs.
  • Tours in simple language – the information is easy to understand. We look at 4 artworks together. We talk about the artworks. You can ask many questions.
