She said: look closer

Under the title “SHE SAID: LOOK CLOSER,” the Stuttgart chapter of the Female Photoclub presents a group exhibition featuring ten professional photographers. The exhibition invites visitors to take a closer look—at images, perspectives, and lived realities that are often overlooked in everyday life and visual culture.

As part of the Stuttgart Photo Summer 2026, whose central theme is “Disorder,” the exhibition serves as an artistic exploration of social and personal ruptures, transformation, and ambiguity. Here, “disorder” is understood as a productive state – a catalyst for new perspectives and creative freedom.

The works on display – from documentary series and independent artistic concepts to experimental approaches – reflect the diversity of FLINTA* perspectives. (*FLINTA = women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans, and agender people). They address themes of identity, the body, memory, belonging, and visibility, while bringing together a wide range of aesthetic and biographical approaches.

“SHE SAID: LOOK CLOSER” positions itself as a contribution to a pluralistic photographic narrative. The exhibition challenges established visual conventions and opens up new ways of seeing beyond traditional viewing habits. Through the deliberate dialogue between the works, a multifaceted panorama of female and queer visual languages emerges.

Accompanying formats such as artist talks, guided tours, and panel discussions deepen the exchange between artists and audiences. In this way, the exhibition becomes a space for encounter, reflection, and inspiration – a place where disorder is not resolved, but celebrated as an expression of diversity, vitality, and change.
