The Queer Art of Failure (UA)

Information

Location and Times

Location: Kunstgebäude

As part of the exhibition “The Cold Heart” and “Sommer in Stuttgart”

Drawing on J. Jack Halberstam’s concept of failure as a queer, transformative strategy, this collaborative project understands imperfection as an artistic method. Queerness becomes a practice of disruption, displacement, and new beginnings. Students of the Baden-Württemberg Academy of Performing Arts enter into a dialogue with the works in the exhibition “The Cold Heart.” In cross-media performances, they explore the themes and leitmotifs embedded in the exhibition.

The programme also includes compositions by Eloain Lovis Hübner and Laure M. Hiendl.

In cooperation with the Baden-Württemberg Academy of Performing Arts, Ensemble Aventure (Freiburg), and Musik der Jahrhunderte, in collaboration with the Animation Institute of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.

The compositions are made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
