Exhibition Opening: »The Cold Heart«

Location and Times
Location: Kunstgebäude
Wilhelm Hauff’s fairy tale »The Cold Heart« (1827) portrays a world in transition, in which the old feudal order gives way to early capitalism. The story deals with greed for money, the pursuit of status, emotional coldness, and remorse – themes that remain strikingly relevant even 200 years later. The exhibition places the fairy tale in dialogue with contemporary art and, against the backdrop of today’s crises, asks how external conditions shape the way we live together. Works by Kader Attia, Jenny Holzer, Julius Pristauz, Rosemarie Trockel, and Nora Turato, among others, are on display.
