Curator’s Tour: »The Cold Heart«
Wilhelm Hauff’s fairy tale “The Cold Heart” (1827) portrays a world in transition, where the old feudal order gives way to early capitalism. The story explores greed, the pursuit of status, emotional coldness, and remorse – themes that remain strikingly relevant 200 years later.
The exhibition places the fairy tale in dialogue with contemporary art and, against the backdrop of today’s crises, asks how external conditions shape the way we live together. Works by Kader Attia, Jenny Holzer, Julius Pristauz, Rosemarie Trockel, and Nora Turato, among others, are on display.
