Located in the heart of Stuttgart at Schlossplatz, the Kunstgebäude is a central venue for art and culture.
Exhibitions, festivals, and events organized by Stuttgart’s cultural institutions, along with accompanying programs that invite the city’s communities to experience culture together, take place here.
Following extensive renovations, the Kunstgebäude reopened in 2024, offering visitors modern spaces for experiencing art. Today, the building hosts a diverse range of exhibitions presented by institutions such as the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, the Württembergischer Kunstverein, the Künstlerbund, and Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, bridging tradition and innovation in the art world.
Café »ISOPI« at Kunstgebäude
The newly opened »ISOPI All-Day Café«, with a large terrace under the arcades of the Kunstgebäude, serves breakfast, lunch, and snacks alongside a selection of drinks.

The power of collaboration
We believe art thrives in dialogue. Kunstgebäude is a space where different artistic practices, ideas and generations come together. In collaboration with our partners, we create exhibitions that blend tradition with contemporary experimentation, making art more accessible and engaging. The art institutions in Stuttgart play a key role in expanding our artistic horizons and keep international dialogue lively. Through these collaborations, we offer our visitors fresh opportunities to engage with art.
Open call – Gallery space
The State of Baden-Württemberg offers institutions as well as artists the opportunity to temporarily use the large gallery space on the first floor of the Kunstgebäude as an exhibition venue. The aim is to provide a professional presentation environment for diverse artistic positions and forms of expression. Interested institutions and artists are invited to apply for the use of the 183 sqm space.
Applications must be submitted in writing to the operator of the Kunstgebäude:

The decision on applications is made by the scientific management of the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart. The duration of use can be flexible, ranging from 2 weeks to 2 months. The following periods are already allocated to the Stuttgart Artists’ Association and the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart:
- 01.01.2027 – 30.06.2027
- 01.01.2028 – 30.06.2028
All remaining free periods are available for further programming.
